The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is one of the world's largest trade shows to showcase the latest products ranging from televisions, to home appliances, to cars, to smartphones, to accessories and much more. The trend we saw this year was about "connectivity", everywhere. Meaning, every electronic product or service showcased had some sort of wireless connection or attempt thereof. With smartphones and mobility leading the wireless backbone (and more than 20 new Android based phones just announced), the editorial team wanted to direct you to a wrap up of some of the latest phones, tablets, TVs and apps we covered at CES 2012! Apps   VMware Virtualization Android App – Eliminates Need for Work Phone & Personal Phone Some of us have this dilemma. You have this amazing Android smartphone that does virtually everything yet your job insists you use an antiquated Blackberry. Just the fact of having two phones drives some people nuts. Reason being security, tracking and software deployment... Phones   Introducing the DROID RAZR MAXX & DROID RAZR in Purple Unveiled at CES as spin-offs to the powerful DROID RAZR is the DROID RAZR MAXX and DROID RAZR in metallic purple flavor if you fancy it. :P Each phone has virtually the same specs as the original and will be on Verizon's 4G LTE network.   Phones   Hands-on Video: Sprint Galaxy Nexus Shortly after Sprint confirmed its Galaxy Nexus with 4G LTE capability at CES 2012 we got some hands-on video of it. There is not much difference from the locked International and Verizon versions with the exception of the processor specs stated to be slightly higher at 1.5GHz versus 1.2GHz. Availability is still TBD, however, it will probably launch in Q2 as Sprint rolls out more of their 4G LTE network. Tablets   SHADOWGUN 3D Multi-Player Face-off Demoed on ASUS Transformer Prime with Nvidia Tegra 3 How awesome is this... The first person-shooter 3D game, SHADOWGUN, was demoed by Nvidia on an ASUS Transformer Prime at CES. Played as a multi-player over Wi-Fi, it supports up to eight simultaneous players. Tablets   Hands-on Video: Samsung Galaxy Note We caught a great demonstration of Samsung's Android phone/tablet hybrid called the Samsung Galaxy Note launching on AT&T in the U.S with 4G LTE speeds. The Galaxy Note can make phone calls, browse the web, get access to thousands of Android apps, plus features a large 5.3 inch HD Super AMOLED screen with a stylus pen called the S Pen for jotting notes & sharing from anywhere within the tablet experience. Televisions   Preview of LG Google TV LG will be launching a Google TV set top box we're told "in 2012." At CES 2012 we got a demo of the slightly altered Android user interface; browsing live, browsing movie catalogs and browsing Android apps. Not shown in the video, however, shown below is a unique remote control design for the LG system to be released. It's small and light with full QWERTY keyboard with action buttons on one side, a typical button remote on the other, plus IR blaster on the side for communication with the television and it acts as the wireless pointer. Gadgets   “Android on a Stick” Get Android on Any TV with HDMI The company Always Innovating showed off a cool thumb-drive sizes unit they call HDMI Dongle which can turn and TV with HDMI into a Google TV per se. Gaming   GameTel Wireless Controller Turns Phones into Gaming Consoles, Android & iOS GameTel demoed a neato Bluetooth wireless gaming controller for us at CES 2012 which turns your Android or iPhone into a game console. It has full game controller features including a D-pad, 4 action-buttons, options buttons and upper shoulder buttons. Cameras   Control your Digital Camera with your Android Phone   Check out how you can control a smart camera using a smartphone. Very convenient if you're taking one of those group shots you want everyone to be in without using the camera timer feature and running back and forth to check the shot. Even cooler, after you snap the photo you can preview it on the phone versus everyone trampling towards the camera setup to peek. Cars   TeleNav Launches Scout for Cars [Video] At CES 2012, TeleNav extended their Scout GPS navigation platform from web and mobile to cars. It uses the navigation engine from your smartphone to render HTML 5 based GPS navigation to an in-car dash creating personalized routing options for you, says the maker. With the app you can control your smartphone with larger dashboard display for features like real-time traffic, access your favorites, and perform points-of-interest searches.
